QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has focused on the urgent need for joint efforts to uplift the state of primary education in the province, describing it as the backbone of the education system and the foundation for future national progress.
“We can significantly improve the literacy rate in the country, particularly in Balochistan, by prioritising primary education as the starting point,” he added.
Furthermore, the event was attended by a large number of teachers, students, and education experts, including UNICEF provincial head Maryam Darvesh, BUITEMS Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Hafeez, University of Balochistan Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahoor Bazai, BUITEMS Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Mirwais Khan Kasi, and educationist Palwasha Jalalzai.
In this regard, Governor Mandokhail mentioned that despite being the largest province geographically, Balochistan’s scattered and sparse population makes it difficult to provide basic educational facilities at the community level.
The governor expressed concern that nearly 2.96 million children in the province remain out of school, denying them their fundamental right to education.
He pointed out that many village schools continue to face severe shortages in infrastructure, electricity, drinking water, and sanitation facilities, all of which adversely affect the learning environment and discourage parents from sending their children to school.

“Every conscious person in the world should recognise that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, study, and progress,” Governor Mandokhail stated. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure that no child in Balochistan is left behind or deprived of basic educational facilities. Together, we can light new lamps of knowledge and equip our children with quality education and modern skills.”
