PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government announced the release of Rs1.3 billion in relief funds for flood-hit areas of the province as the death toll from flash floods and rain-related incidents rose to 341, according to official data.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said Rs800 million has been allocated for all affected districts with an additional Rs500m has been earmarked exclusively for Buner the worst-hit district where 222 people have lost their lives and 120 others have been injured.
In this sense, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported 660 fatalities and 935 injuries since the start of the monsoon rains in late June.
Furthermore, at least 95 houses were damaged in the district 55 fully and the rest partially while several schools also sustained damage. In Lower Dir, five people died and three others were injured in flash floods and thunder strikes, while 100 livestock were lost. Battagram reported three deaths from flooding, while a roof collapse in Nowshera killed two people.Meanwhile. a devastating cloudburst over two villages in Swabi’s Gadoon Amazai region claimed at least 11 lives, with more than 33 people reported missing. Similarly, provincial Irrigation Minister Aqibullah Khan, who visited Dalori village, mentioned that eight bodies had been recovered and efforts were under way to retrieve others.

Additionally, the rescue teams from Haripur and Mardan have been deployed.
