QUETTA: Air travel is the only available means of inter-provincial transportation for residents and travelers between August 12 to August, as all inter-provincial bus services to and from Balochistan have reportedly been suspended during this time.
According to reports, in addition to the road transport suspension, train services have also been suspended across Balochistan until August 16, amid security concerns.
The local media reported that the heightened security concerns ahead of the Independence Day celebrations and recent violent incidents may have prompted the temporary transport shutdown.
Earlier this week, a bomb attack on a railway track in Mastung district caused significant damage and led to the suspension of all rail operations in the region. The Pakistan Railways had initially announced a four-day suspension beginning August 11, which has reportedly been extended amid ongoing assessments of the security situation.
Following the suspension of both road and rail travel, the residents of Balochistan are now left with air travel as the only inter-provincial option—a luxury that remains out of reach for many due to significantly inflated ticket prices.
