Bajaur elders support targeted operation, present peace plan to KP CM

PESHAWAR:  The peace Jirga of 50 members from Bajaur met with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, expressing their support for a targeted military operation against terrorists in the region.

The delegation briefed the chief minister on the prevailing security situation in Bajaur. The elders shared details of a series of negotiations held over the past seven days, aimed at restoring peace in the district.

The jirga informed the chief minister about the deadlock in the talks, outlining the challenges that had hindered progress.

They also presented a comprehensive peace plan, which, according to the elders, could help restore stability and protect civilian lives if implemented effectively. Furthermore, the CM Gandapur assured the delegation that their proposals would be thoroughly discussed with the federal government.

The chief minister also conveyed a decisive stance against forced migration from any area, stating that displacement would only be considered if absolutely necessary for safety reasons.

“It is the government’s responsibility to provide facilities to those who choose to migrate voluntarily,” Gandapur said, adding that measures would be taken to ensure that residents could live in their areas with security and dignity.
