QUETTA: Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti led Balochistan government has made more than 32,000 functional across the province.
Talking to the representatives of the Young Parliamentarians Forum Pakistan, Chief Minister said that his government is committed to ensuring that no school remains non-functional in the province.
The delegation, led by MNA Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar (President, YPF) and MNA Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani (General Secretary), met the Chief Minister to discuss youth engagement, governance, and education reforms.
“We are connecting our youth with the state through opportunities in education, development, and employment,” said Bugti. He emphasized that Balochistan’s youth must step forward and contribute to national progress.
The Chief Minister also highlighted a major education initiative under the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program, which is sending Baloch students for PhD studies to 200 top-ranked universities around the world with national and local support.
He stressed the importance of understanding Balochistan’s challenges in their historical context. “Grievances with the state must not translate into armed rebellion,” he noted. “Balochistan’s accession to Pakistan was a consensual decision, endorsed by a majority vote in the Shahi Jirga.”
Bugti added that bad governance has fueled terrorism, while good governance strengthens the state. “We are enforcing transparency and accountability at all levels to promote good governance in Balochistan.”
He condemned ethnic violence, stating: “The targeted killings of Punjabis are part of a calculated plan to damage national unity.” He warned that no anti-state narrative, no matter how popular, is acceptable to patriotic citizens.
For the first time, the provincial government has launched scholarship programs for minorities and transgender individuals. Bugti also pointed to female empowerment, noting that four women currently serve in the provincial cabinet.
