Kabul: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with his Afghan counterpart, Sirajuddin Haqqani, during his visit to Kabul.
Upon his arrival at the Afghan Ministry of Interior, Naqvi was warmly welcomed by Haqqani.
The two ministers discussed key bilateral matters, with a focus on counterterrorism, border security, and concerns related to the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The meeting also covered issues such as effective management of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, preventing drug trafficking, and establishing a system to regulate cross-border movement.
They further discussed the repatriation process of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan.
Both interior ministers emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence, regional stability, and enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
They agreed to strengthen joint efforts for better border management and combating terrorism.
Naqvi reiterated that terrorist groups are a major source of unrest and instability and must be tackled collectively.
He affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining brotherly and long-term relations with Afghanistan, highlighting Pakistan’s decades-long hospitality to millions of Afghan refugees.

He also noted that legal pathways for Afghan citizens to enter Pakistan remain open.
