ISLAMABAD: The security forces have successfully thwarted a cross-border infiltration attempt from the Pak-Afghan border, arrested five suspected suicide bombers in a major counterterrorism operation.
The incident took place on the evening of July 17, according to credible security sources. In this sense, several reports indicate that a group of militants, identified as Khawarij elements, attempted to infiltrate Pakistani territory from across the Afghan border.
The operatives were intercepted and captured without incident, preventing what officials believe could have been a major terrorist attack. The arrested individuals are linked to a banned extremist group and were allegedly equipped for suicide missions.
In addition to this, the preliminary investigations are focused on determining their intended targets and identifying any facilitators within the region.
This incident mentions the persistent threat of cross-border militancy and underlines the need for continued vigilance and enhanced border security.
