PDMA Balochistan issues Monsoon alert, imposes ban on tourist spot visits

QUETTA: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a comprehensive alert to ensure timely response and minimize the risk of flood-related incidents in Balochistan for the upcoming monsoon season.

According to details, Faisal Panizai, Director of PDMA Balochistan, stated that all relevant departments have been placed on high alert in anticipation of potential heavy rainfall and flooding in vulnerable areas.

He confirmed that necessary machinery, equipment, and logistical support have already been dispatched to key districts likely to be affected during the upcoming monsoon season.

He further said that additional staff has been deployed, and specific duties have been assigned to district-level teams, adding that the situation is being monitored closely, and we’re prepared to respond immediately to any emergency.

Authorities have also issued special instructions for populations living along the banks of rainwater drains (nullahs), urging them to remain vigilant and follow evacuation guidance in case of rising water levels.

In a preventive move, a complete ban has been imposed on public visits to tourist spots across Balochistan during the monsoon period.
