MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has strongly condemned the recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran. He called the strikes “groundless, unjustifiable, and illegitimate” during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow.

Putin said the attacks were “unprovoked aggression” that violated international law. He stressed there was no justification for such actions. He also reaffirmed Russia’s support for the Iranian people and called for diplomatic solutions.

Welcoming Araghchi to the Kremlin, Putin said, “Your visit gives us a chance to discuss these urgent issues and find a way out together.”

Araghchi arrived in Moscow on Monday. He said the trip aimed at holding “closer, more serious consultations” after the U.S. targeted Iran’s nuclear sites. He thanked Putin for his strong stance and praised Russia for standing “on the right side of history.” Araghchi also conveyed greetings from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Meanwhile, China expressed deep concern over the growing conflict. Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun warned the situation could destabilize the region and harm the global economy.

Guo said the Gulf and surrounding waters were vital trade routes. He urged all sides to stop the escalation and return to talks. “China urges the global community to work harder to prevent wider instability and protect economic development,” he said.
