Federal minister affirms a rapid progress on Quetta-Karachi highway

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, held an important meeting with Deputy Chairman Senate, Syedal Khan Nasir, where they discussed key matters of mutual interest, including the ongoing budget session.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the current political, parliamentary, and regional situation.

A major focus of the discussion was the development projects underway in Balochistan under the National Highway Authority (NHA), particularly the Quetta-Karachi N-25 highway project.

The federal minister informed that work on the N-25 project is progressing rapidly and emphasized that the federal government is giving special attention to Balochistan’s infrastructure needs.

Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted the strategic geographical importance of the communication network in Balochistan.

In response, Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir praised the Ministry of Communications for its performance and appreciated the government’s commitment to development projects in the province, calling it a positive and commendable initiative.

Balochistan, being Pakistan’s largest province by area, has long suffered from inadequate road infrastructure, affecting connectivity, trade, and economic development.

However, recent initiatives have prioritized upgrading and expanding the province’s road networks.

The Quetta-Karachi N-25 highway is a central component of these efforts. Stretching over 813 kilometers, this crucial route links Balochistan’s capital with Pakistan’s economic hub, facilitating both commercial transport and public travel.

The N-25 is being developed to meet modern highway standards, including widening lanes, enhancing road safety, and improving service areas.

Additionally, the government, through the National Highway Authority (NHA), has launched several other projects such as M-8 (Ratodero-Gwadar Motorway) and the Zhob-Kuchlak Highway, aimed at integrating remote districts with major trade routes under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
