ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for Iran in the wake of Israel’s recent aggression.
During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz strongly condemned Israel’s unprovoked attacks on Iranian territory, terming them a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He described the assault as a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
“The aggression against Iran is not only illegal but a dangerous provocation that threatens regional and global peace,” the Prime Minister stated. He reasserted that Iran, under Article 51 of the UN Charter, has every right to defend itself.
The Prime Minister further condemned Israel’s continued military campaign in Palestine, calling it “a brutal and unlawful genocide against the Palestinian people.”
President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed deep gratitude for Pakistan’s steadfast support during this critical time. He welcomed Pakistan’s statements at the United Nations and underscored the strong historical and brotherly ties between Tehran and Islamabad.
The two leaders agreed to maintain close diplomatic contact and cooperation in the days ahead, focusing on the importance of a coordinated response to evolving regional challenges.
