Shah Irfan Ahmed appointed as chairman of Gwadar Port Authority

Islamabad: Prime Minister of Pakistan has approved the appointment of Shah Irfan Ahmed, a Grade-20 officer from the Balochistan Civil Service (BCS), as the Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority.

His appointment has been made on a deputation basis under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.

According to the notification issued by the Establishment Division, Shah Irfan Ahmed’s appointment is for a period of two years or until an amendment is made to the Gwadar Port Authority Act 2021—whichever comes first—under standard terms and conditions.

Gwadar Port holds immense strategic and economic importance for Pakistan and the wider region.

As the flagship project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), it offers Pakistan direct access to the Arabian Sea and provides China and Central Asian countries a shorter and more economical trade route.
