QUETTA: The intense heatwave sweeping across the plains and coastal regions of Balochistan has severely disrupted daily life.
On Sunday, temperatures soared to 42°C in Gwadar, 41°C in Jiwani, 44°C in Pasni and Ormara, and a scorching 48°C in Turbat.
The Meteorological Department has forecasted further temperature increases along with strong, dusty winds. Gwadar may reach 43°C and Kech could hit 49°C in the coming days.
Weather experts attribute this extreme heat to climate change and global warming, which are disproportionately impacting arid regions like Balochistan.
The soaring temperatures are having adverse effects on health, agriculture, water supply, and the local ecosystem.
