Kalat admin gives 7-day deadline to evict Afghan Refugees from rented properties

KALAT: The district administration of Kalat has issued strict orders directing all property owners to evict Afghan refugees from rented houses, shops, and land within seven days.

The notification clearly states that after the seven-day deadline, the administration will launch a crackdown against illegally residing Afghan nationals under the Foreigners Act 1946.

Officials said the move aligns with the federal government’s broader policy to repatriate all undocumented foreigners and take legal action against those providing them shelter or other facilities. Across Pakistan, authorities have intensified efforts to expel illegal Afghan residents and prosecute their local facilitators.

The notification further warns that property owners who fail to evict non-local tenants will face strict legal action under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946, which carries penalties including imprisonment, fines, and deportation.

District authorities have urged all landlords to comply with the directive to avoid legal consequences.

Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946 says that any person who violates the law or assists or facilitating an illegal foreign national can face imprisonment of up to five years, a fine, or both.

The Foreigners Act also empowers authorities to take strict legal action, including deportation and forfeiture of property, against those found involved in such violations.
