GADANI: In a historic economic breakthrough for Balochistan, the provincial government has secured a massive $50 million investment from German firm AOCH GmbH for the coastal region of Gadani in the Dastarkat constituency. The landmark deal, facilitated by Provincial Minister for Agriculture Mir Ali Hasbi (Hassan) Zehri, is poised to become the largest single investment in the city’s history, promising significant job creation and infrastructural development.
The investment follows a detailed visit by a delegation from AOCH GmbH, hosted by Minister Zehri and Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri. The team conducted an extensive tour of Gadani’s coastal areas, including the Gadani Shipbreaking Yard, Khoj Resort, and other key sites, to assess investment potential. They were warmly welcomed with traditional Balochi hospitality, including Ajrak and cultural gifts.
During a comprehensive briefing, the German investors outlined a multi-project plan for the coastline. The flagship initiatives include the establishment of an oil refinery and the introduction of advanced technology specifically designed to clean oil spills in the sea. This environmental safeguard aims to protect marine life and reduce pollution, addressing critical ecological concerns alongside industrial development.
Provincial Minister Mir Ali Hassan Zehri hailed the investment as a transformative moment for the region. “This is a welcome move which will reduce the unemployment rate and will play its role in providing a better environment to all investors,” he stated. He assured the delegation of complete security and a hospitable environment, emphasizing that Balochistan‘s industrial zones are peaceful and ready for business.
The high-profile visit was attended by key figures including Mir Wahab Bizenjo, Deputy Commissioner Jab Ismail Ibrahim Baloch, SSP Jab Fazil Bukhari, and PD Gadani Shipbreaking Yard Saeed Imrani. The collective effort underscores a strong governmental push to attract foreign direct investment, aiming to unlock the economic potential of Balochistan’s coastline while integrating vital environmental protections.
