PESHAWAR: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck parts of northern Pakistan on Friday, officials said.
Tremors were felt in Gilgit, Skardu, Pattan, Balakot, and nearby areas, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The quake had a depth of 12 kilometers. Its epicenter was located in northwestern Kashmir, about 84 kilometers northeast of Gilgit-Baltistan.
No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
