Security forces have successfully repelled a series of coordinated and large-scale ground attacks by Afghan Taliban militants along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Balochistan, official sources confirmed on Wednesday night.
According to security officials, the militants launched a multi-pronged assault, simultaneously targeting at least 16 different positions of the security forces in the border districts of Qila Saifullah, Nushki, and Chaman. The coordinated attacks prompted a fierce and immediate response from the troops deployed along the frontier.
Security sources reported that a heavy exchange of fire ensued as the troops effectively engaged the advancing militants. The retaliatory fire was highly effective, inflicting significant casualties on the attackers.
“Due to the effective and timely counter-attack by our forces, at least 27 Afghan Taliban operatives have been killed and several others have been injured,” a security source said. The attackers were forced to retreat in disarray, suffering heavy casualties and material losses.
However, the confrontation came at a cost. A soldier of the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan embraced martyrdom while bravely defending the homeland during the intense firefight. Additionally, five other security personnel sustained injuries and were immediately evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Officials have confirmed that security has been further tightened in all border areas. “Our forces are on high alert and are prepared to give a befitting reply to any future misadventure from across the border,” an official stated.
The intense exchange of gunfire temporarily spread panic among the population in the bordering villages, but security forces have since taken control of all sensitive areas and restored the situation to normal. The local administration and security agencies have intensified monitoring along the border to ensure lasting peace and order in the region.
