18 govt schools illegally occupied, 149 inactive in Quetta: Report

QUETTA: The Balochistan Education Department has revealed that 18 government run schools in the provincial capital Quetta were illegally occupied by powerful individuals.

A recent report presented to the Deputy Commissioner of Quetta has uncovered serious irregularities in the city’s public education system, including the illegal occupation of government schools, non-functionnal of government schools and chronic teacher absenteeism. The report was presented during a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Meher Ullah Badini.

According to the report, 18 government schools in Quetta are illegally occupied by influential individuals. Out of 678 government schools, 149 are inactive. Shockingly, 25 teachers have not reported for duty in the past two years.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed serious concern. He ordered the immediate evacuation of all occupied schools. He also directed officers to take strict action and submit a detailed report by next week.

The revelations highlight the urgent need for reform in Quetta’s public education system. Authorities now face growing pressure to restore functionality and accountability in government-run schools.
