QUETTA: A passenger van accident on Friday left at least 17 people injured, including women and children, on the National Highway.
The incident occurred between the towns of Notal and Bakhtiarabad. The van, which was traveling from Sibi to Gandawah, overturned after one of its tires burst. Officials from the police and Levies force reported that the vehicle was both overloaded with passengers and speeding at the time of the accident.
Rescue teams, National Highway Police, and Levies personnel quickly arrived at the scene. All injured individuals were taken to a medical facility in Bakhtiarabad for initial treatment.
According to authorities, three of the passengers were in critical condition. They were first moved to the Teaching Hospital in Dera Murad Jamali and were later transferred to a hospital in Larkana for more advanced care.
The Levies force confirmed that the driver of the van has been arrested, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
