Ahsan Iqbal leaves for China to attend 14th JCC meeting on CPEC

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has departed for China to attend the 14th Joint Coordination Committee meeting on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, scheduled in Beijing this week.

Before leaving for China, in a statement, the Planning and Development Minister underlined the strategic significance of the meeting in shaping the future of Pakistan-China economic cooperation.

He said China has always stood by Pakistan in every difficult time.

Ahsan Iqbal said the 14th JCC meeting will serve as a platform to operationalize the vision for CPEC Phase II, focusing on industrial collaboration, technological innovation, and sustainable development.

The Minister for Planning said Pakistan is now on a new journey of economic development and national prosperity and economic indicators have shown marked improvement in recent months.

It is pertinent to mention here that President Asif Ali Zardari returned to the country earlier today after completing his ten-day official visit to China.

He was seen off from Kashgar by CPC Party Secretary & Vice Governor of Xinjiang Nie Zhuang.

During the visit, the President toured Chengdu, Shanghai, Urumqi, and Kashgar. He held meetings with provincial leadership during the trip. Discussions were held on Pakistan-China relations, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and future connectivity projects.

During his visit, several Memorandums of Understanding were signed. President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit reaffirms the commitment to the Pakistan-China strategic partnership.
