At least 1,006 dead in flood-hit areas: NDMA

NDMA issues heavy rain, flash flood alert for Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Flash flooding and torrential rains have claimed at least 1,006 lives, including 275 children, 163 women, and 568 men across the country, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

Rescue and relief efforts are underway as authorities work to reach flood-hit communities and assess the scale of devastation, it added.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tops the list of death toll with 504 fatalities, including 90 children, 338 men, and 76 women.

Punjab recorded 304 deaths, including 110 children, 143 men, and 51 women, while Sindh reported 80 fatalities — 35 children, 35 men, and 10 women.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, 41 people were dead, Azad Jammu and Kashmir recorded 38 deaths, while 30 deaths were reported in Balochistan.

At least nine — including five children, three men, and a woman — lost their lives in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
