Gaurav Ariya hints India’s role in Baluchistan terror

ISLAMABAD: Former Indian Army officer and TV anchor Major Gaurav Arya has once again openly hinted at India’s involvement in terrorist activities in Balochistan. In a recent statement, Arya appeared to justify acts of militancy, following a tragic attack on a passenger vehicle traveling from Quetta to Punjab that resulted in the deaths of 10 innocent civilians — an incident believed to be part of India-backed covert operations in the region.

Earlier this year, in February 2025, a major terror attack targeted the Jaffar Express train,  carried out by the banned militant group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

The attack claimed the lives of 35 passengers, while 33 militants were killed by Pakistan’s security forces during the response.

The incident drew further controversy when hundreds of members of a self-proclaimed Baloch rights organization, BYC, stormed the hospital and took away the bodies of the slain militants, fueling suspicions of the group’s ties with banned outfits such as BLA, BLF, and BRA.

Adding to the concerns, Indian media outlets not only predicted the attack days before it occurred but also broadcast real-time updates during the incident — raising questions about foreknowledge and complicity.

Indian newsrooms were seen celebrating the attack, portraying it with an alarming level of enthusiasm.

These incidents are part of a growing pattern of unrest in Balochistan, with many attacks preceded by suggestive posts on Indian social media handles, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).

Just days after the Loralai attack, Major Gaurav Arya tweeted, “The road to peace in Balochistan passes through Kashmir,” a cryptic remark that many interpret as a veiled threat linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which runs through Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

India’s long-standing opposition to CPEC, the Gwadar Port, and development initiatives like Saindak and Reko Diq has intensified suspicions of its backing for terrorism in Balochistan.
