Dasht train suspension enters 3rd day

QUETTA: The Railway authorities have announced the suspension of the Dasht train service after a powerful blast caused severe damage to a railway bridge and track in Dasht. The suspension of Dasht train service has been entered in the 3rd day.

In this regard, the attack, which occurred on September 23, disrupted the movement of trains and left six bogies of the Jaffar Express disconnected from the track.

The explosion inflicted heavy losses to the railway infrastructure, particularly the bridge and adjoining track. In this regard, the reconstruction work is currently underway at the site to restore train operations.

The railway personnel confirmed that the repair work is progressing on an urgent basis, with the aim of making the damaged section operational within the next two days.

The safety of passengers and smooth operations remain the department’s top priority. The suspension of the Dasht train has affected a vital number of commuters who rely on this service for daily travel between Quetta and surrounding regions.

Furthermore, the passengers have been advised to make alternate arrangements until the line is restored. The blast in Dasht mentions continuing security challenges faced by railway operations in Balochistan.

In recent years, railway tracks in the province have frequently been targeted, causing not only financial losses but also disruption in connectivity for local communities.

Moreover, the officials reasserted the government’s commitment to ensuring stronger security measures for railway infrastructure, stressing the importance of safeguarding transport networks that link the province with the rest of the country.
