QUETTA: The Ministry of Human Rights organized a consultative session to discuss the legislation related to persons with disabilities, focusing on their rights and the steps being taken to support their inclusion in society.
In this regard, the session brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, human rights experts, and representatives from civil society, to appraise past legal efforts and outline a path forward for the empowerment of individuals with disabilities.
In this sense, Secretary of Social Welfare, Ismatullah Qureshi, focused on the Balochistan government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being and inclusion of persons with disabilities in every aspect of life.
Qureshi further noted that inclusive policies and programs are being introduced to bridge the gap between persons with disabilities and the resources they require, particularly in education, employment, and public services.

Director General Human Rights, Muhammad Arshad, also addressed the participants, highlighting the purpose of the session.
He reasserted the Ministry’s resolve to continue engaging with all relevant sectors to ensure that the legal and policy landscape reflects the needs and rights of persons with disabilities.
The session adjourned with recommendations for increasing the enforcement of existing laws, raising awareness, and creating platforms for advocacy.
The participants appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue and collaboration to bring meaningful change in the lives of persons with disabilities.

This consultative session reflects a growing recognition at the governmental level of the importance of inclusion, equal rights, and social integration for all, regardless of physical or mental ability.
