Balochistan govt approves 10% salary allowance for employees

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has approved a salary allowance for its employees.

According to a notification from the Treasury Department, employees in Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 1 to 22 will receive a 10% Ad Hoc Relief Allowance, calculated on their basic pay. This allowance will take effect from July 1, 2025.

The government clarified that this allowance will not apply to employees serving abroad or on deputation. Officials confirmed that the revised budget estimates for the fiscal year will absorb the cost of this allowance, eliminating the need for additional budget allocations.

Earlier, the government also announced new income tax slabs for the salaried class in the 2025–26 budget. Individuals earning up to Rs600,000 annually will pay no income tax.

Those earning between Rs600,001 and Rs1.2 million per year will pay 1% income tax on the amount exceeding Rs600,000.

For annual incomes between Rs1.2 million and Rs2.2 million, the government set a fixed tax of Rs6,000 plus 11% on the amount above Rs1.2 million.

In the next slab, individuals earning between Rs2.2 million and Rs3.2 million will pay a fixed tax of Rs116,000 and 23% on the amount exceeding Rs2.2 million.

For incomes ranging from Rs3.2 million to Rs4.1 million, the government has imposed a fixed tax of Rs346,000 plus 30% on the amount above Rs3.2 million.

Those earning more than Rs4.1 million annually will pay a fixed tax of Rs616,000 along with 35% on the amount exceeding Rs4.1 million.
