ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Division has issued a cyber security advisory warning government and defense institutions of potential Indian cyber-attacks.
The Cabinet Division has informed that the attackers are reportedly using emails and WhatsApp messages containing malware disguised as information related to the “Pahalgam incident.” These suspicious files are capable of silently collecting sensitive data and images from infected devices.
According to the advisory, all government departments are urged to exercise extreme cautions and it recommended to avoid emails from unknown sources, scanning all attachments with antivirus software before opening, and reporting suspicious emails immediately to the organization’s IT administrator.
To strengthen protection, the advisory further recommends using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and ensuring all systems are equipped with up-to-date antivirus software. It also advises against storing official or personal data on untrusted cloud services or using online document converters, which could compromise data security.
