The Indian Army is facing immense internal pressure due to its inability to acknowledge the deaths of soldiers during Operation Sandur. Sources confirm that India suffered significant casualties in its confrontation with Pakistan, with over 250 soldiers killed along the Line of Control (LoC) alone.
In response to the large number of deaths, the Indian military has decided to award over 100 soldiers, including four fighter pilots—three of whom flew Rafale jets.
Operation Sandur inflicted serious damage on Indian forces. To avoid public embarrassment, both the Indian government and military leadership have continuously concealed the extent of their losses. At the LoC alone, more than 250 Indian soldiers lost their lives.
Despite the scale of casualties, the Indian government plans to honor more than 100 personnel. Among them, five soldiers from the 10 Infantry Brigade’s G Top post and nine from the 93 Infantry Brigade Headquarters will receive awards posthumously.
Additionally, four Indian Air Force pilots, including three Rafale jet pilots, are also set to be honored.
The families of the fallen Indian soldiers are reportedly under pressure not to share any pictures or tributes on social media.
Among those being awarded are five S-400 air defense system operators who were killed at the Udhampur airbase.
Even in the face of confirmation from both Indian and international media, the Indian government has continued to deny the losses at Pathankot and Udhampur bases.
India initiated its military strikes on the night of May 6 and 7, using the killing of tourists in Pahalgam as a pretext to launch attacks across multiple locations targeting Pakistan.
In response, the Pakistan Air Force acted swiftly, shooting down six Indian jets, including Rafale aircraft.
Pakistani forces responded decisively across all fronts, destroying multiple Indian posts along the LoC and inflicting additional troop losses.
On May 10, Pakistan launched Operation Banyan Marsous, successfully striking key Indian military installations, including airbases and cantonments.
Following Pakistan’s overwhelming response, India requested the United States to mediate a ceasefire.
